The tax is counted on the salary before social security: Article 9 of the law, which lists what a resident person takes off before tax, does not name the employee's social security share.
Counted in your browser: nothing you type is sent or kept.
How it is counted
First the exemptions come off the year's income: 9,000 dinars for you, 9,000 more if you support dependants, however many they are, and up to 1,000 for you, 1,000 for your spouse and 1,000 for each child (3,000 at most for children) against bills for medical care, education, rent or housing-loan interest. One family takes 23,000 dinars at most.
What is left, rounded down to the dinar, is taxed in brackets: 5% on the first 5,000 dinars, 10% on the next 5,000, 15% on the next 5,000, 20% on the next 5,000, and 25% on what follows up to one million.
A taxable income above 200,000 dinars a year also pays a national contribution of 1% on the part above 200,000. The tax due is rounded down to the dinar; each month is one twelfth of the year's tax.
