How it is counted
Article 32 of the Labour Law gives a worker one month's wage for each year of actual service, on the last wage: the basic wage and the fixed monthly allowances.
The award is owed to a worker who is not covered by social security. A worker covered from a later day than their first day of work is still owed it for the service before coverage.
The service is counted in days, both the first and the last day included, and divided by 365, so part of a year counts for its share. This is how Zyntra OS payroll works out an end-of-service settlement.
End of service, counted on every payslip
Zyntra OS payroll sets the end-of-service award aside each month and works out the settlement on the day a person leaves, by the law your company chose.
Questions and answers
How is end of service counted in Jordan?
One month's wage for each year of actual service, on the last wage (Article 32 of the Labour Law). Part of a year counts for its share.
Is a worker covered by social security owed an end-of-service award?
Article 32 gives the award to a worker not covered by social security. A worker covered for the whole service is not owed it; one covered from a later day is owed it for the service before coverage.
Which wage is the award counted on?
The last monthly wage: the basic wage and the fixed monthly allowances.
Does part of a year count?
Yes. The service is counted in days and divided by 365, so six months counts as half a year.
Is this the amount my employer must pay?
It is an estimate by Article 32, not legal advice. Your contract, your records and the court or the Ministry of Labour have the last word.
