E-invoices in Germany

XRechnung is the German standard for e-invoices sent to the federal administration, and the federal invoice service offers a Peppol route for those who send many invoices. Germany's own Peppol authority is KoSIT, the coordination office for IT standards.

The German Peppol IDs

A public buyer is reached by its Leitweg-ID (scheme 0204), and a business often by its German VAT number (scheme 9930). Zyntra OS checks the shape of each before saving.

What Zyntra OS writes today

Zyntra OS writes Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, the Peppol invoice built on the European standard EN 16931. It does not yet write the XRechnung or ZUGFeRD formats themselves.

What Zyntra OS does with Peppol

Built into Zyntra OS, the business system Double Support makes in Amman.

Sends invoices and credit notes

An invoice or a credit note goes out by Peppol when it is issued, written as Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 and checked against the published Peppol rules in our tests.

Receives suppliers' bills

A bill a supplier sends you by Peppol arrives as a draft, entered exactly as the supplier wrote it. Nothing is in the books until a person accepts it; a credit note received is entered as a debit note.

Checks a customer's Peppol ID

Type the customer's Peppol ID and press Check: Zyntra OS says whether that customer can receive Peppol invoices. A slip in the digits is refused by the ID's own rule.

Shows the status on the invoice

The invoice's own page says Queued, Sent, Delivered or Refused. A refusal shows the reason the access point gave, and Send again is one button.

Questions about Peppol in Germany

Can Zyntra OS send to a German public buyer?

Zyntra OS accepts the buyer's Leitweg-ID as its Peppol ID and sends a Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 invoice. Where a buyer asks for XRechnung itself, Zyntra OS does not write that format yet.

Which Peppol ID does a German business have?

Often its German VAT number (9930). Type it on the customer's page and press Check on Peppol to see whether it can receive.

Are bills from German suppliers received?

Yes, when they come by Peppol: each arrives in Purchase as a draft, exactly as the supplier wrote it, for you to accept.
