Lab orders and recall

Updated in 5.20.58

A dental clinic's work with its lab — a crown, a bridge, a denture — from sent to fitted, with the lab's bill in Purchase; and each patient's next check-up, with a reminder that carries their own link to book it. Both show on Today; the reports add a dental block.

A lab order

On the Dental card make a lab order: choose the lab (a lab is one of your suppliers, see Add a vendor), the work from the clinic's list, the tooth or teeth, the shade, the day the lab returns it, the cost and a note. It gets its number, LAB-00001 and on.

Move it on as the work comes and goes: Sent, then Received, then Fitted. Until it is fitted it can be Cancelled. An order still sent after its day is late.

Make the lab's bill: its cost becomes one Purchase invoice from the lab, with the lab's own invoice number if you type it, waiting for Purchase's approval (see Enter and pay a vendor invoice).
One order has one bill. A cancelled order, or one with no cost, gets no bill.

Recall: the next check-up

When a visit is closed and signed, the patient's next check-up is due after the clinic's months between check-ups (6 to start with).

On Clinic › Today, Due for recall lists the patients due in the next 30 days and those overdue: the file number, name, phone, the day due, the doctor and when they were reminded.

Press Send the reminder. It goes by email through Appointments' own messages to the patient, with the template «Time for your check-up» (see Email templates). It names the day due, and carries the patient's own link to the clinic's booking page with their doctor and the check-up already chosen.

When the patient books from that link, the recall is cleared.
The reminder carries no medical word. A patient with no email address is not sent one: call them, or add their email to their file. Sending it needs Clinic Patients — Create / Edit or Clinic Visits — Open a visit.

On Today

A dental clinic's Clinic › Today adds two lists: Due for recall, and Open lab orders — the orders sent and received, with the lab, the work, the day due and the late ones. The teeth, the shade and the note show only to who may read that patient's record.
