University

Registration

Updated in 5.20.69

Find a student, then register them in the sections of the semester. Prerequisites, co-requisites, clashes, seats and the hour limits are checked before anything is saved. Students register themselves in the student portal the same way.

Who

University — Register students registers, drops, withdraws and names completed courses; University — Act outside the windows and the hour limits raises a student's most hours. A student registers only themself.

Find the student

Choose the semester (the one open for registration comes first) and type a name or a number in Find a student by name or number. Only students studying a major are found; press one to open their registration.

Finding a student

At the top: the student's Major, the Semester with where today falls in its windows, and their Credit hours against the fewest and the most (amber when outside them).

Register

1
Under Courses of the plan still to take, each course of the student's study plan not yet completed shows its sections this semester: the teacher, the times and the seats left. A course whose prerequisite is not completed says Needs … first; one taken with another says Taken with ….
2
Tick one section of each course to take (a course and its co-requisite are ticked together) and press Register the chosen sections.
3
A full section puts the student on its waiting list. A course outside the plan is chosen under Another course offered this semester.
Choosing the sections
Nothing is saved when one check fails, and the refusal names it: a prerequisite not completed (an equivalent course completed counts), a co-requisite left out, two courses at the same time, a course already registered or completed, a closed section, or more than the semester's most credit hours.

Drop, leave the waiting list, withdraw

This semester lists every registration with its section, times, hours and status: Registered, Waiting (with its number), Dropped or Withdrawn (W).

The student's registrations this semester
1
Until the last day to add or drop, Drop takes a course off; the seat goes to the first student waiting who can take it (no clash, within their hours). After registration closes, a drop never leaves fewer than the fewest hours unless a reason is typed.
2
After that, until the last day to withdraw, Withdraw keeps the course on the record as W; its hours no longer count.
3
Outside a window, the registrar types the Reason; it is kept with the registration and on the student's trail.
Dropping a course

The week draws the registered sections on the university's bell times, day by day.

The student's week

Completed courses and the most hours

Completed courses lists what the student completed; the prerequisites are checked against it. Name a completed course adds one (a transfer or an exemption, with a note) until the semester's grades fill the list. Raise the most hours lets the dean allow more credit hours to this student in this semester only, with the reason.

The student registers in the portal

In the student portal the student reads Registration: the semester and its windows (a switch when another semester is open too, for a withdrawal), their hours, My courses this semester with Drop or Withdraw, and Courses of my plan with the sections offered and their seats.

Registration in the student portal

They tick a section of each course and press Register. Every check above runs the same; a course outside their plan is refused. A guardian reads the same part and never registers.
