25 topics
- Faculties and majorsZyntra University runs on Zyntra School's base: the same student file, admissions, academic years, portals and invoices. It adds the university's faculties, each faculty's departments and each department's majors, with the degree and the credit hours a student needs to graduate.
- CoursesEvery course with its code, its credit hours and its weekly lecture and lab hours, and what it needs before it or with it.
- Study plansA plan per major and intake year: its required and elective groups and the semester each course is suggested in. Students admitted that year follow it to the end.
- A student's majorA student is admitted to a major and an intake year through the same admissions and the same student file as Zyntra School. Their page reads the major, the study plan of their intake year and the courses they have completed.
- The grade scale and the standing rulesEach university keeps its own scale: from what mark each letter starts, the points it is worth and whether it passes, and what the GPA is counted out of (4 or 5). Beside it are its rules: which attempt of a repeated course counts, when a student is warned or dismissed, and who is on the dean's list.
- Semesters and offeringEach semester's windows and the sections offered in it: seats, the teacher, the room and the times. A teacher, a room or a section is never placed twice at the same time.
- Course marksThe teacher of a course types its marks for the semester and submits them; the registrar approves, returns or releases them. When the marks are released, each student's total becomes a letter and its points by the university's scale, and the grade is written on the student's record.
- RegistrationFind a student, then register them in the sections of the semester. Prerequisites, co-requisites, clashes, seats and the hour limits are checked before anything is saved. Students register themselves in the student portal the same way.
- Grades, GPA and standingEvery released grade counts in the student's GPA by the university's rule: points times credit hours, divided by the hours. The semester GPA reads the semester's courses; the cumulative GPA reads every semester, a repeated course counted once. After each semester the student's standing is good, a warning or dismissed, and the best are on the dean's list.
- Registration reportsA section's class list, the seats and waiting lists of every section, the students under or over the hour limits, and each teacher's load. Each says how many it looked at.
- Fees and bills — pricesWhat a credit hour costs and the semester's fixed fees. A student's semester is billed from their registration: each course's credit hours × the price that fits them, then the fees.
- Billing the semesterEach student's semester is billed once, from their registration, to the payer named on their file. Adding, dropping and withdrawing change the bill. A student who owes on an earlier semester is held from registering.
- Fees reportsA semester's money by faculty, and what the scholarships cost. Every figure is the invoices, payments and credit notes of the semester's bills.
- Lecture attendanceThe teacher of each section takes attendance in every lecture: present, absent, late or excused, the same marks the school uses. Each student's absence is counted against the course's limit at once.
- Exam barsA student absent from a share of a course's lectures is warned; past the university's limit they are barred from its final exam. The registrar lifts a bar with a reason. A barred student is given the university's letter when the marks are released.
- Exam timetableEach section's final exam, and its midterm when it has one: the day and the hours, the rooms and their seats, the invigilators. Every clash is refused, with what clashed.
- Attendance and exam reportsEach section's attendance, each student's in a section, and the plan of the exam rooms. Every figure is counted from the lectures' own marks.
- Graduation auditsA student's graduation audit sets what they have earned against the study plan of their major and intake year: each group's hours, the courses still missing, the major's total hours and the lowest cumulative GPA to graduate. The student reads the same audit in their portal.
- GraduationA semester's graduation list holds the students who meet their plan. The registrar approves each one, then the dean; the dean's approval graduates the student on the list's day, in their major's degree. The student is kept as a graduate and keeps their portal.
- Graduates, the transcript and the degreeEvery graduate is kept with the day, the degree, the cumulative GPA and the hours of that day. A student's official transcript and a graduate's degree certificate are the university's certificates: each with its serial, the stamp, the signature and a check code whose public page says whether it is still valid.
- Academic advisingEach student has an academic advisor from the staff. The advisor reads their own students at a glance, keeps notes about them, approves their registration and decides their requests at the advisor's step.
- Learning platforms for sectionsThe same Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams for Education and Moodle connections the school uses: each university section you pick (course, semester and section) becomes one course or class team, with its teacher and its registered students; the course's components you choose go as assignments, and the grades given there come back into the course's mark sheet as draft marks.
- The advisor's OK on a registrationWhile the university says so, the courses a student registers in from the portal wait for their academic advisor's OK. Nothing counts before it: no seat, no hours, no bill. The advisor approves with the student's plan and graduation audit beside the choice, or returns it with a reason.
- Student requestsA student asks from the portal to postpone a semester, withdraw from the university, have a course counted from another university, get a refund, change major, or add or drop a course late. Each request walks the university's chain for its kind; the last OK acts.
- Requests and advising reportsThe students' requests by kind and state, how long each kind takes to decide and where requests wait; and the students per advisor. Each list says how many it counted.
