Manufacturing quotes

Price a product before it is ordered: its materials, labour, machine time and overhead for the quantity the customer asks, worked out the way a standard cost is, with a margin on top — then turned into a sales quote in one press.

Who

«Price manufacturing quotes» makes, changes and archives them. Making the sales quote also needs the sales quotes' own «Create».

The quotes

Each quote shows its customer, product and quantity, the Cost a unit, the Margin, the Price a unit and the Total, and its state: Draft, Quoted (with the sales quote it became) or Archived. Search by number, product or customer.

Price a product

Press New manufacturing quote. Choose the Product (one with an active bill of materials), the Customer and the Quantity.

Type the Margin (%); it starts at the company's own (Setup › Settings › Manufacturing). Choose another Routing or none, and the day it is Valid until.

Press Cost and save. The product is costed for THIS quantity: a setup is shared by the run, so a large quantity costs less a unit than one piece.

The costing, and the sales quote

A quote opens with its costing: the materials part by part (a sub-assembly at its own standard), each operation's minutes, labour, machine and overhead, the cost a unit and the price at the margin. A price below the cost is said in red.

While it is a draft, Edit changes the quantity, the margin or the routing, and costs it again.

Press Make the sales quote: a sales quote is made for the customer with one line, the product at the price, in the customer's currency. The quote becomes Quoted and opens it with Open the sales quote.

Cost a sales quote line

Press Cost a sales quote line to see the lines of open sales quotes whose product has a bill of materials. Cost it costs the line's product for its quantity and says the margin its price leaves.

The figures are the stock's and the routing's own: what the materials cost on the shelves now, the work centres' rates and the overhead rates in force.
A quote is never deleted: Archive puts it away and Bring back returns it. A quoted one is not changed; make a new one.
