Bills of materials

Updated in 5.20.70

A bill of materials says what one run of a product makes and what it takes: its components with their quantity, unit and scrap, the parts that have bills of their own, and what else comes out of the run. Each product keeps its bills as versions; one is active at a time.

The list

Each row is one version: its Number, the Product, the Version, its Status (Draft, Active or Archived), how it is made, what one run makes, how many components it has and the days it is in force. Search by number, product or code; the status list shows the archived ones when chosen.

Make a bill

1
Press New bill of materials and find the Product by its name or code.
2
Type how much One run makes and its Unit (the item's own unit when left empty). Choose How it is made: Made on an order, or Kit (phantom) — a kit is never made on its own order; wherever it is a part, its lines are taken straight into the order above it.
3
Press Make the draft. The number (BOM-00001 …) is given by Zyntra.

Its lines

The Components show each part, its quantity Per run, its unit, its Scrap % and How it comes: Bought, Has its own bill (made first on its own order), Phantom or Kit. Under them, By-products and co-products: a by-product (sawdust) comes out of the run and is credited at its own cost; a co-product is a product of its own that carries its share of the cost.

A bill's lines
1
On a draft press Add a component (or Add a by-product or co-product).
2
Find the Item, type the Quantity per run and choose the Unit. The unit may differ from the one the item is kept in — 250 grams of a glue kept in kilograms — as long as a conversion joins them (Units of measure).
3
Type the Scrap %: it is added on top of the quantity. Tick Phantom for a part whose own bill should be taken into this order. For a co-product type its Share of the cost %. On a product with variants, tick the variants a line is kept for (none ticked = every variant).
4
Press Add the line.
The New line form
A loop is refused when the line is written: a product is never a part of itself, and a part whose own bill already takes this product (A in B in A) is refused with the path that closes the circle.

Activate a version

1
On a draft press Activate and choose the day it Starts on.
2
From that day it is the bill of its product. The active version before it is archived the day before, and its dates are kept: an order of last month still reads the bill it was made by.

An active version is never changed. Press New version: a draft copied from it opens, with the next version number. Archive puts a version away; nothing is deleted, and a new version can be copied from an archived one any time.

The exploded view

Type the Quantity to make, a day and (for a product with variants) the variant, then press Show. Every line of every level is listed with what is Needed: its quantity × the runs × (1 + scrap), in the unit the part is kept in. Below, the totals To buy or take from stock, To make first, and the by-products and co-products.

The cost

The Cost tab (with See costs) prices every bought part at what one unit costs on your company's shelves now, by each warehouse's own method (FIFO or weighted average), in your company's currency. A part made first costs what its own parts cost. By-products are credited; co-products take their share. The tiles show the Materials, the By-products credited, The product's share and what One unit costs.

The cost roll-up
A part no shelf holds a cost for is named at the top, never counted as 0.

Variants, where used and versions

A product with variants (a chair in oak or walnut) keeps one bill; each line can be kept for some variants only. A variant with no bill of its own reads its product's bill with the lines kept for it.

Lines kept for one variant each

Where used lists every bill that takes this product, and the bills above those. Versions lists every version of the product with its days.
