Quality inspections

An inspection plan says what is checked, where and how often. Its inspections are made by themselves at their point — goods received from a supplier, an operation of a production order finishing, a production order's output. A lot that fails is held in the quarantine warehouse, where nothing is delivered from it, until it is released, returned to its supplier or scrapped.

Who

«Read inspections and control charts» reads them. «Keep inspection plans and the quarantine warehouse» writes the plans. «Record inspection readings» takes the readings and issues certificates. «Release or reject held lots» decides a failed lot.

The inspections

Each inspection shows its Number, the Item and its Lot, the Quantity, where it came From (the receipt and its supplier, or the production order) and its Plan. The list opens on those Waiting for readings; choose Failed, Held now, Passed or All above it, and one Point.

Take the readings

Open the inspection. Each check line shows what is Required: a measure with its least and most, pass / fail, a picture or a note. A measure read more than once (its plan says how many) has a box for each sample; a box turns green inside its limits and red outside them.

Type the readings. Save the readings keeps them as they are; Finish the inspection works out the result. A line marked * must be read before it finishes.

Passed: the lot is accepted where it is. Failed: the lot is moved by a transfer into the quarantine warehouse at once. A finished inspection keeps its readings as they were taken.

A held lot

A failed inspection says how much is held, in which warehouse and by which transfer. Nothing leaves the quarantine warehouse to a customer — a delivery or a till sale from it is refused — and no transfer takes it out.

Release moves the lot back to where it was, to be used and delivered again. Return to supplier (a lot received on a purchase order) raises the purchase return from the quarantine warehouse. Scrap writes it off with a loss voucher.

Each one asks why: whoever reads this lot's history later reads it.

A failed inspection also opens a non-conformance report: Raise a non-conformance report fills its item, lot and quantity from the inspection.

Inspection plans

In Inspection plans, press New plan. Give it a Code and a Name, and choose where it Inspects: On receipt (for one supplier, or any), After an operation (choose the routing operation) or At output. Choose the Item, or leave it empty for every item.

Choose How often: Every lot, One lot in every N (the first, then every N-th), or A share of the quantity. Set the Readings of each measure: five readings a lot make the subgroups a control chart reads.

Add the Check lines: what is checked (and in Arabic), how, and for a measure its unit, least, target and most. Then Make the plan.

The same page chooses the Quarantine warehouse. With none chosen, one named «Quarantine» is made the first time a lot is held.

Certificates of analysis

The Certificates tab lists the certificates issued. Choose an inspected lot and press Issue a certificate; it lists each finished inspection of the lot with every check and what was found, as a PDF in English or Arabic. A lot that failed and was not released is never certified. Add the Customers who ask for a certificate: each delivery to them carries a certificate for every inspected lot on it, by itself.

Nothing is deleted. A plan is archived and restored; the inspections it made keep the lines they were made with. Every step is in the inspection's History.
