Production orders

Updated in 5.20.70

A production order makes a quantity of one product by its bill of materials and its routing: it reserves the materials, takes them off the shelf by hand or as the units are reported, puts what it makes on the shelf in parts, and follows each operation on the floor. It is made for stock, for a sales order or for a project.

Who

«Read production orders» reads them and prints them. «Plan production orders» makes and changes a draft. «Reserve and release production orders» confirms, releases and reserves again. «Issue materials to production orders» issues, returns and scraps materials. «Report output and operation times» reports what was made and the operations. «Close and cancel production orders» closes and cancels them.

The orders

The open orders come first, by their Due day; a late one says so. Each shows what it makes, Made / ordered, what it is Made for and its State. Choose Production or Disassembly, a State, or search by number or product.

2
The Bill of materials is The active version and the Routing is The product's default routing unless you choose another. Choose where the materials come from (Materials from) and where the output goes (Output into), the Start and Due days, a Project and an Output lot if you keep lots.
3
Leave Take the materials when output is reported ticked to back-flush them; untick it to issue every material by hand. Press Make the draft.

To make what a customer ordered, press From a sales order: the lines of open sales orders whose product has an active bill are listed with what is still To make; press Make on one. The order carries the line's product, its quantity and its promised day, and the sales order is named on it.

Confirm, reserve and release

1
Confirm and reserve: what is free of each material in the materials warehouse is Reserved for this order — a sales order or a repair cannot take it any more. What could not be reserved is listed as Short.
2
A part with a bill of its own (a sub-assembly) is Made on its own order. When it is short, press Plan the sub-assemblies: a draft order is made for each, due the day before this one starts.
3
When stock arrives, press Reserve again. Press Release to send the order to the floor. Back to draft lets every reserve go while nothing has moved.

Materials and output

Issue materials takes materials to the line by hand: change a quantity to issue part of it, choose the Lot, and name the Serial numbers where the shelf keeps them. Return materials puts back what was not used, at the cost it left at. Scrap a material takes a spoiled material off the shelf by a loss voucher with its reason.

1
Press Report output each time units are finished: the Good units, the Units scrapped and why, the Lot, the Expiry and one serial number a unit if you keep them.
2
The materials not issued by hand are taken now, the soonest-to-expire lot first, up to what every unit reported so far needs. By-products and co-products come in with the product in their share.
3
When what was made reaches the quantity, the order is Done. Mark done ends it earlier; Reopen takes it back to In progress.

Operations

The routing's operations are copied onto the order with their instructions and their Planned minutes. Start, Pause and Finish each one; at Finish type what it really took and the good units.

History, print and close

History lists every move on the order: issued, taken on output, returned, made, scrapped, with its lot, its warehouse and who did it; a scrap names its loss voucher. Print the order prints it with its operations and instructions; Print the pick list prints what is still to take, with the lots on the shelf.

Every move on a production order
Every move goes through the warehouse's own stock: the shelves, the inventory history and the serial numbers say exactly what the order took and made, under its number.
Nothing of an order is deleted. Close the order ends it and lets its reserves go; Cancel the order is for an order on which nothing has moved yet, and keeps its reason.
