Units of measure

Updated in 5.20.70

A conversion says how one unit turns into another: in general (1 kg = 1,000 g) or for one item (a box of this screw = 200 pieces). Every bill of materials reads them both ways, so a line asking 250 g of a glue kept in kg takes 0.25 kg.

The page

General conversions hold the ones shipped for every company (kilogram and gram, tonne, litre and millilitre, metre, centimetre and millimetre, dozen and piece) and your own; One item's conversions hold the ones for one item. Each row says the Rule, The other way and Whose it is.

Convert

Type a Quantity, choose From and To and, for an item's own units, the item; press Convert. The answer goes through steps when it must: 3 boxes of a screw (200 pieces a box) are 50 dozen.

Add a conversion

1
Press New conversion.
2
Choose From and To and type what one From Is worth in To. For one item only, find it under For one item; leave it empty for a general one.

The New conversion form

A unit that is not in the list yet is added in Inventory › Settings › Units (Add a unit opens it for who may). The same pair is never written twice, either way round.

A shipped conversion is kept as it is for every company. Your own is changed, or archived and brought back (Show the archived ones); nothing is deleted.
