Updated in 5.20.68

The school library's catalogue: every book with its ISBN, subject, language and shelf, and each copy with its own barcode and state — on the shelf, lent, lost or damaged.

Who

The library's view right reads the catalogue; the right to manage the catalogue adds and changes books, copies and the library settings.

Each line is one book: the Book and its authors, the ISBN, the Subject, the Language, the Shelf, and how many of its Copies are on the shelf («2 of 3 on the shelf»; red when none is). Search by title, author, ISBN or a copy's barcode, or narrow by All subjects and All languages. Only the books put away shows the books taken out of the catalogue.

Add a book by its ISBN

1
Press Add a book and type or scan the ISBN first. Its check digit is checked: «A whole ISBN.», or «Not a whole ISBN yet». If the book is already in the catalogue it says so — press Open it and add a copy to it instead.
2
Type the Title, Authors, Publisher, Year published, Language, Subject, Shelf place and the Price of a lost copy (what a family is charged when the copy is lost).
3
Type the Copies to add now and press Save: the library numbers the copies itself (LIB-00001, LIB-00002 …).

A book and its copies

Press Open on a line. Under the book's details, Copies lists each copy's Barcode and State, who it is Lent to and when it is Due back (red when Overdue), and a copy held for a student.

1
Add copies: scan or type each barcode on its own line, or leave it empty and type How many copies.
2
A copy on the shelf is marked Damaged or Lost (or back On the shelf) from its own list. A lent copy is changed from the Lending desk.
3
Put away takes a book out of the catalogue (never while a copy is lent); it stays with every loan it had, and Bring back returns it.

Library settings

Press Library settings for the school's own figures: the Days a student borrows and the Days staff borrow, the Copies a student holds at once and the Copies staff hold at once, the Renewals a loan may have, and the Days a reserved copy is held.

Tick Charge a fine for a late return and type the Fine for each day late and the Most a fine can reach. Choose the Item a fine is billed as and the Item a lost book is billed as: each charge goes on an ordinary invoice to the family as that item, with the item's own tax.

Library settings

The reminder of an overdue book to the family is switched in Setup › Settings › School («Remind the family of an overdue library book»). It starts off.

Import books from a spreadsheet

1
Press Import, then Download sample file to see the columns: title (required), authors, isbn, publisher, year, subject, language (ar, en, fr, de or other), shelf, price, copies — or the copies' own barcodes separated by «;».
2
Choose your file and press Check the file: nothing is written yet. Each line that cannot be used is named with why — an ISBN that is not whole, one already in the catalogue or twice in the file, a barcode already a copy.
3
Press Import for real to add the good lines.
